Late late show for young Lion Loach

Watford`s rookie stopper, Scott Loach, got just 7 minutes of international action on his England U21 debut after coming on as an 87th minute sub in the 3-2 defeat to Equador.

The Hornets goalkeeper - who with just 36 league games to his name was a surprise call up by Stuart Pearce - came off the bench to replace Cardiff City keeper Tom Heaton who had been helpless (not hopeless) in maintaining the Young Lions 18-month unbeaten record.

There was no real action of note for Loach to impress during the remaining 3 minutes of the 90 + 4 minutes injury time but it`s all good experience for lad, who just 12 months ago was playing on loan at Morecombe in Div 2.
