S'no joke as Watford snatch Latvian loanee

Arctic conditions sweeping across the UK might have put pay to some transfers but one man who won`t have been phased by the cold will be Watford`s new Latvian loanee Aleksanders Cauna.

The 21 year old Latvian international winger has made a loan switch from Skonto Rigo until the end of the season and after braving the big freeze in the former Soviet state, a trip to Doncaster on a brisk Tuesday night should hold no fear!.

In all honesty, not much is known of Cauna (who is also known as Sasa apparently) expect that he was voted Latvia`s Young Player of the Year in 2006, is a partial to the odd goal or 2 and is being eyed up for a potential permanent deal in the summer.

Aleksanders, of course, has Chelsea links (never!) having had trials with the Blues 18 months ago and his arrival might just be a kick in the ol` Baltics to get Watford winger Jobi McAnaff playing at his something like his best again.

i think watford have done well in the transfer window, i agree should give jobi more enthusiasm to play at his best, sasa and don cowie should hopefully profide us with more creativity in midfield, lets hope its enough to turn our form around, especially our ''away'' record.

I agree Eldlive - whilst I admit to knowing much about the latvian lad I think BR has shown he's not afraid to test the transfer market. As far as I can see BR has been true to his word with Smith et al all staying but you just nrver know what the club have up their sleeves.

Trouble is a lot of the fringe players are on good contracts, so they will be hard to get rid of, hopefully a good clear out in the summer
