Taylor disappointed by Willo signing

Wycombe boss Peter Taylor has declared himself 'disappointed` that Mike Williamson decided on a 6-figure switch to Watford.

The 6ft3 centre back made the move from the League 2 promotion race to a relegation scrap at the foot of the Championship but the Adams Park gaffer said "I hope it turns out to be a good move for him".

Wycombe had turned down two £100k offers for League 1 side Colchester for the Stoke-born stopper but Williamson was finally lured by the prospect of playing in the 2nd tier of English football.

Peter Taylor stated "Mike was out of contract and he expressed a desire to play Championship football. Unfortunately a Championship club wanted to buy Mike, he was out of contract in the summer and no one blames him for wanting to leave"

The former England U21 manager added "I`ve been really pleased with the way Mike has played during the opening half of the season and he helped us tremendously to get us in the position we are in, but obviously I`m disappointed to lose him"

Let`s just hope then that Williamson`s performances on the pitch match his ambition.

I reckon Claude Davis would be a great signing...*Shittu-esque in stature and a commanding brute at set-pieces as well.
