Watford take to the mike for Chairboy

Watford will announce the signing of Wycombe Wanderers centre back Mike Williamson early this week, well according to Adams Park gaffer Peter Taylor anyway.

The Wycombe boss told the press that the Hornets had snapped up the strapping 6ft3 defender for a six figure sum after leaving Williamson out of the 3-1 away day defeat at Bournemouth.

There`s nothing official from the club yet although the W`Observer are running the story.

Williamson, who picked up the PFA League 2 Player of the Month in October 2008, has racked up 130 league starts for Wycombe since Tony Adams took him to Adams Park (from Southampton) 5 years ago.

And let`s face it Tony Adams must know a thing or two about the qualities required in a centre back.

Chairboys fan, wycombenewbie, wrote on the W`Observer site "He`s a great player and been the core our defense. It`s been obvious for a while that he`s capable of playing at a evel far beyond 4th tier football and away trips to Accrington!"

Sounds like exactly what we need; big, strong uncomplicated central defender, now what about that left back position?
RFB-gloryhornetboys
i think that Harley shouldnt be the left back he is a lot better at left wing, doyley did alright at left back though
jackwebby
Agree 100% about Harley, but disagree 200% about poor old Lloyd as a potential left back; he doesn't have a left foot and looked completely inadequate from where I sat.
RFB-gloryhornetboys
yeah true about Lloyd but who have we got sadler isnt great and the only other person is jordan parkes but he hasnt really had much first team action
jackwebby
Yes the left back position is a problem alright, Sadler has been a great disappointment - considering what he cost (and wages must be high) although I understand he's been hampered by an ongoing back condition which can't have helped. Nice Cup Draw though should be a few more than 8,000 Watford fans for this one I think and then we'll be free to "Concentrate on the league!"....

I reckon we can do Chelsea...sling in a few setpieces and take it from there...

if we paly like we did on saturday going forward, we may have a chance, defending is woefull and our setpeices have been very poor all season, As for lloyd, he has not got a right foot either, you know what you get with him and i think its time that he moved on, but fairplay he has always tried, bless him
ANDY710
Reliable Lloyd had a pretty solid game on Saturday - BR will only him a 1 year deal I am damn sure. Let's face it Hoyte is no better! Williamson has now signed officially (on the club site) and Wycombe reckon they were reluctant to let him go as he will be out of contract in the summer.

does any1 agree with me that the last 2 goals that palace scored was down to the fact the Rogers made needless subs?
jackwebby
Jack, Certainly the 3rd goal was down to that,it really was a pointless change in my view. although I can understand why he wanted to rest Rasiak & Hoskins for tomorrow evening. Personally, I wish the FA / FIFA would ban all substitutions after injury time has started, it would stop the nonsense and time-wasting at a stroke. Won't happen though ......
