Watford snooker loopy over Davis

Brendan Rodgers wants a big signing to fill a gaping hole in his sieve of a defensive backline and the Watford Observer reckon Derby defender Claude Davis is the man lined up to fill it!

Hertfordshire`s finest local rag don`t tend to do speculation so the Davis link might well have some legs you know.

Davis has fallen down the pecking order at Pride Park (he hasn`t played for 2 months) and with new gaffer Nigel Clough looking to slim his squad, rumours are rife that Claude could be up for grabs.

Ol` Claude does have all the attributes to fit the bill.

At 6ft2 he has the "stature" that Brendan Rodgers so desires and let`s face it, his CV is packed full of Championship experience at Sheffield United and Preston - something our backline so desperately needs.

Sky Sports even reckon "the Jamaica international is thought to be interested in a move away from Derby to get his career back on track".

Yes, he`s had his injury problems over the last 12 months but let`s not forget he`s made 2 3m+ moves in 3 years so is a player of some ability.

VitalWatford say "get in there and quick Brendan" - before we lose him to someone like Leeds (who are apparently already on the sniff).
