Ainsworth eyes up Championship return

He might be the latest player out of the revolving Vicarage Road exit door but Lionel Ainsworth reckons he`s set for a quick fire return to the Championship with new side Huddersfield…

Ainsworth has been super fast to 'big up` the Div 1 hopefuls after completing his switch from WD18 on a 2 ½ year deal, stating "Everybody here has the same ambition of getting the Club to the Championship first and foremost and then we can build from there".

The pint-sized winger added "I have come here with the belief that we can get promotion this season, given where we are in the table and the players we have - it`s a step in the right direction for me. I want to go forward just as the club does, so hopefully we can do that in quick time."

Lionel though wasn`t without his options.

ereford boss Graham Turner has said he joined the race of Ainsworth`s signature without success and Lionel himself admits that "…the [Watford] manager called me and gave me my options. From that point on the choice was up to me, so I came up to talk to everyone."

It may be a shrewd move by the young wideman.

Lee Clark`s Terriers sit 8th in Div 1 (with the only negative goal difference in the top half) but are only 7 points from 3rd!!!

With the likes of Kevin Phillips and Swindon hotshot Simon Cox rumoured to be on their way over the Huddersfield horizon, what price, pocket rocket Lionel inspiring the Terriers to swap divisions with his former club?
