Avinel's back...but for how long?

Avinel's back...but for how long?

Watford want rid of French centre back Cedric Avinel but he just keeps coming back to haunt the Hornets.

Avinel was dispatched off to join little known side FC Gueugnon II on trial only last week but it seems the French 3rd tier team are so unsure of Avinel that they wanted to watch him in competitive action before making a decision.

And young Cedric won`t have done himself too many favours in front of his French suitors after the Hornet reserves put in a defensive horror show worthy of the first team in last night`s defeat to Colchester United.

Avinel`s chances of securing a deal back to his homeland took quite a battering after the U`s second string frontmen - including a former Ebbsfleet United striker - ran riot, chalking up a 4-1 victory.

A club representative told VitalWatford "Cedric was with the French club on trial last week. He played today so they could take another look at him I believe".

Our source added "I wouldn`t say he was "back for good" - there will probably be movement on that by the end of this week. It`s not a secret that Brendan [Rodgers] wants to reduce the size of his squad"
