Mariappa ready for cage fighter Hendo

Watford`s midget centre back Adrian Mariappa insists he`s fighting fit to face cage fighting machine Darius Henderson when the Blades striker return to the Vic tomorrow.

Mariappa, who makes up part of the worst defensive record in the Championship, told the official Watford website "It will be a very big test, when I first came to training with the first team we had just brought Darius and he was a handful in training"

And the 5ft11 defender added "Now I think I`m a bit more equipped than I was to play against him then, but I`m really looking forward to it".

So what does Mariappa reckon he has in his locker that overcome the fact that he really is too short to be taken seriously as a Championship proven centre back?

Well it`s simple - it`s his 'spring` of course! Ok, so he might not get up like Helguson or McClelland of old but hey, it` not bad for a short guy.

Even he admits it himself.

Mariappa added "I love playing against the big strikers too because they don`t expect me to be good in the air and that`s one of the best parts of my game I feel".
