'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Watford wave au revoir to Avinel

Cedric Avinel - one of Aidy Boothroyd`s little known 'buys for the future` - has been sent out on trial at French 3rd tier club FC Gueugnon II with a view to a permanent move - if they deem him good enough!

Avinel, signed as a promising centre back with a cultured foot, has managed only 45 minutes in the Hornets first team (that being a quite awful first half showing against Reading the Premier League) as well as a couple of League Cup games.

The Paris born defender was even packaged out on loan to non-league Stafford Rangers in a bid to get him up to speed with the rough and tumble of English footie - without success.

Now Watford boss Brendan Rodgers has lost patience with the 22 year old and has told him he doesn`t cut the Dijon mustard at Vicarage Road with the gaffer stating "He has been told that his future is elsewhere, it is now just a case of trying to get the best move for him".

For those of you not quite up to speed with France`s equivalent of the Ryman Premier League, FC Gueugnon II are 4th in a table featuring the footballing mights of Chambery, FC Chalon sur Saone, Clermont Foot and Mont d`Or Azergues.

Zut Alors!
