Watford move on bit-part Bromby

Watford boss Brendan Rodgers has taken steps to secure the safe keeping of some of his bigger named players by packing high wage earner Leigh Bromby off to former club Sheffield United on loan.

Bromby, who has made 46 appearances since his £600k signing from Bramall Lane just under a year ago, has been a bit part player in WD18 since the arrival of Brendan Rodgers - acting mainly as a bench warmer - and has dropped down the pecking order at Vicarage Road.

His long throw is certainly a weapon of mass destruction that Rodgers won`t want in his 'total football` armoury whilst the Steel City stalwart has looked increasingly ill at ease with the ball at his feet in truth.

The departure of another high earner off the wage list does open up a number of doors for the cash-strapped Watford, who look hell bent on addressing the 'achilles heel of defence` before the window slams shut.

An approach for West Ham`s James Tomkins has already been turned down by the Hammers (according to the News of the World) but we now expect the 'For Sale` signs to be taken down off Tommy Smith and a young centre half to join on loan.

Sounds like sour grapes by MrWatford, Impression from other Watford fans was the opposite of his view.
gloucblade
He's looked poor for most of the season and doesn't play well with Demerit, seems to lack physical presence.
RFB-gloryhornetboys
He never was excellent with the ball at his feet, but surely a good strong CD for this division
TheBladesWay
No sour grapes here gloucblade - Bromby is a good centre back but doesn't suit the new type of footie that the Hornets gaffer wants to play. He is now 4th choice centre back and has had to warm the bench for much of the last 3 months.
DrWatford
Sad to see him go, always paid his rent on time, but this does represent a huge loss of money in this signing, what with Kabba on the way out for nothing, 1.2 million of transfers fees given away for nought
