Ok, so the prospect of lifelong fan Elton John returning to the Watford set-up is exciting we grant you that, but it seems it`s the only thing being talked about at Vicarage Road these days with a PR frenzy taking place.
The Watford Observer are simply wetting themselves at the prospect of the Rocket Man being back in the fold, and the Hornets coaching staff and players seem to have jumped on an 'Elton John circus` that is quickly taking over into town down at WD18.
We admit that the club obviously want Elton to feel loved and wanted (and all that other cuddly stuff that the delectable Mrs Dr Watford wants me to show from time to time), but it`s pure overkill at the moment.
An over-enthusiastic Jay Demerit managed to wheel off paragraph after paragraph of gushing praise, the highlight being "Elton John is an integral part of what this club is all about…to see him come back is something he wanted, the fans wanted, the board wanted and everyone else wanted".
Captain America, speaking to the W`Observer, got the better of his excitement to add "To have him back is great because him just being who is and being a fan of the club brings a bit of notoriety to Watford Football Club and that is a positive thing in itself".
Next up and it`s Richard Lee`s turn.
Speaking through his 'usually` worthwhile weekly blog at www.richardleegk.com, the Hornets keeper said "…in true Elton style he arrived next to our training pitch in a Harrods helicopter and spoke to us all about his decision to once again be part of the club he loves.
"I`m sure all Watford fans will be delighted to once again have his name associated with the club - promising times ahead".
And even Jack Cork - who is bound to have been around some big names at Stamford Bridge, came over all a bit star struck, insisting "It was my second day in and he flew in on his helicopter and I have never seen Elton John before but to see someone who my mum and nan absolutely love was weird"
The Chelsea loanee added "I saw my mum afterwards and I said to her that I saw Elton John and she was buzzing."
Of course, a red hot PR campaign wouldn`t be a red hot PR campaign without a brief word from the gaffer - and Brendan Rodgers didn`t disappoint, stating "I think Elton is obviously a big part of the history of Watford and for me, from being someone on the outside looking in before coming here he is a iconic figure.
The gaffer added "when people talk about Watford they relate the club to Elton John, so for me it is only a positive thing".
For the sake of our sanity, enough now please.
