Something blue for Watford's Mariappa?

Something blue for Watford's Mariappa?

Watford defender Adrian Mariappa - aka the poor man`s Lloyd Doyley - is on the summer shopping list of Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace according to some sunday papers.

The 22 year old product of the Hornets Academy is out of contract next summer and, with the cash strapped Watford board looking to raise funds to pay the electric bill at Vicarage Road, Mariappa might well be put in the shop window with the January sales just around the corner.

Ok, so his versatility across the backline is an asset (Mariappa can play centre back or right back) and his distribution is decent (for a defender) but many fans would rather see the 'jack of all rearguard trades` leave ahead of other bigger names.

For us here at VitalWatford Towers, well we`ve never really seen what all the fuss about Mariappa is anyway so aren`t too overly concerned that Jim Magilton or Neil Warnock might have a keen eye in the New Year.

We have much bigger fish to fry when it comes to Mssrs Smith, Loach, Demerit and O`Toole.

Disagree with you on this one, Mariapa is a descent player in this league, i would much rather see Lloyd go for sure

Besides, because of his age, WFC could command a fee even if he is put of contract!
