Lee surprised to Watford no 2

Hornets goalkeeper Richard Lee has confirmed that he is 'surprised and disappointed` to find himself back warming the Watford after losing the No 1 jersey to fit again youngster Scott Loach.

Lee, who was showing signs of renewed form and confidence with both Mart Poom and rookie Loach sidelined, hit the headlines for 3 out of 3 penalty saves and a first class performance against Cardiff.

But a number of uncharacteristic errors have seen the former Blackburn keeper slip down the ranks at Vicarage Road once again with 19yr old Loach back between the sticks.

Speaking through his weekly blog at www.richardleegk.com, the Hornets stopper stated "Admittedly I had played a couple of games that weren`t up to my usual standard but I was very pleased with my past 2 performances so the news [that I wasn`t playing] did come as a surprise to me…"

And the keeper, who has been in and out of favour at Watford of late, added "although I don`t want to be a number two I will support Loach 100% until another chances arises".

Ah, what a true gent Richard Lee is…but we bet deep down he`s secretly kicking himself…

Well, he woulda gotten away with it if wasn`t for that that pesky kid!

I think you will have to get use to warming the bench, has cost us many goals last season and this season, true, he saved 2 penalties, but it is apparrant that you only have to shoot from outside of the box and he lets them in, but then come to think of it, he lets them in at all angles, contract up at the end of season, maybe time to move on!

Loach has certainly looked more assured than Richard and also has the physical presence which is required for modern keepers. He's a great guy but......
