Rodgers - I knew of Chairman`s exit

Just when you thought it couldn`t get any more bizarre new Watford boss Brendan Rodgers reveals he knew of chairman Graham Simpson`s 'planned' departure when he signed up over a week ago.

Boy, what a fiasco.

Rodgers, who many thought would be left hung out to dry following the shock exit of the man who bought him to Vicarage Road, was only left surprised by the speed of change…

Speaking to Sky Sports, Rodgers confirmed he knew just what he`d let himself in for. He said "I was obviously aware of the situation before coming in…Simpson`s possible exit was obviously something that had come up. For me I was surprised how quickly it has happened but I have always been aware of it".

All this from a man who said change on the playing side would come slowly but surely.
Rodgers was also quick to dismiss fears that he may receive his P45 just days into his managerial career should new management come in with new ideas, insisting he signed on "the understanding that whether Simpson was to resign or not it would not influence or make an impact on my role".

Hmmm. A former Chelsea reserve team boss backed with a strong reference by Jose Mourinho at a club where ardent Chelsea fans - the Russo brothers - look nailed on to take over the reigns as long a new style of sexy football is implemented…

It`s enough for the conspiracy theorists to get their teeth into.
