Simpson sorry for Watford errors

Departing Watford chairman has issued his "sincere apologies" for any mistakes he has made during his 6 year reign at the helm of the Hornets board.

Simpson quit with immediate effect at today`s emergency general meeting at Vicarage Road but insisted "I have always done - and that`s the most important thing for me - the very best, or what I believe to be, the best for the club…"

The Hornets board have been the subject of heavy criticism of late with Simpson taking a whole host of flack from just about every quarter with all things financial under the spotlight and fans screaming 'Show me the money` from the stands.

He has publicly stated his desire for a takeover for the last 12 months but declared "…if I have made mistakes I sincerely apologise...Nobody gets it right all the time and I sincerely apologise to anyone who I may have offended by doing the wrong thing".

Jimmy and Vince Russo - known affectionately as the Salad Brothers by some sections of the Watford support - are expected to now make a formal bid for ownership but time will only tell if actions speak louder than words.
