'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rovers warning for Watford boss

New Watford boss Brendan Rodgers was given a harsh dose of Championship reality after Doncaster Rovers gaffer Sean O`Driscoll insisted 'Brendan will find this division difficult'.

Rodger`s insistence on a 'total football` philosophy should be applauded but, on Saturday`s evidence in the 1-1 draw with Doncaster, the transition might just be a little too tough for some of the Watford players.

And O`Driscoll further added a cause for concern, suggesting "If you want to play pure football it is difficult because a lot of teams are functional - they will beat you on a set-piece or you`ll have the majority of the possession and suddenly switch off because the opposition are used to grinding out results week in, week out".

Rodgers has already admitted thankfully that he wants his Watford troops to go direct at the right time to stave off the threat of relegation and O`Driscoll reckons "you`ve got to have that balance".

The Rovers gaffer, whose side languish 2nd from bottom despite a fluid passing game that is well acclaimed in the football world, added "We`ve learned that quickly and are probably a little further forward than maybe even Watford".
