Former Hornet boss stings bookies

One of the UK`s leading online bookmakers have revealed that they "got stung" when the Hornets board took the 'mutual decision` to remove Aidy Boothroyd from the Watford hotseat….

…and they`re not prepared for the same thing to happen again with Boothroyd being red-hot favourite to take over the reigns at Huddersfield.

The former Watford boss went from being 14-1 to 6-4 favourite to be the next Championship manager to lose his hours before he got the boot from Vicarage Road and has been backed right down from 8-1 to odds as low as 1-4 on the Yorkshireman setting up home at the McAlpine Stadium.

Head of PR at Sky Bet, Helen Jacob told the national press "This is the second gamble on Boothroyd in less than 24 hours. We got stung on his being axed from Watford, so we`re keeping a close eye on this market…".

With the Yorkshire press keen to speculate on Boothroyd`s future just minutes after Watford chairman Graham Simpson said Aidy "could do with a break", the Sky Bet spokeswoman added "..After taking just a handful of bets on the other candidates and a flood of bets from the Huddersfield area, we`ve already racked up a four figure liability on Boothroyd".

Sky Bet have since suspended all betting on the former Hornets boss for the time being.
