'Curb' your enthusiasm Malky

Watford`s caretaker boss Malky Mackay wants a shot at the Hornets hotseat on a permanent basis - despite being pretty damn rubbish in his current role of first team defensive coach.

VitalWatford were stunned yesterday when the short sighted Hornets board announced the former Celtic, Norwich and W`Ham legend Mackay as the interim solution to the vacant managers job.

In truth, Malky is a legend in the lower leagues but he really should have been shown the door along with all the other hangers-on in the cast of thousands that was Aidy Boothoryd`s backroom staff.

So it was with a guffaff then that we saw Malky confirm he`d "like to be involved in the shake-up" when the shortlist was drawn up to be new Hornets boss.

The bookies don`t see it though…Mackay isn`t even on their radar. Former Hammer Alan Curbishley is installed as 3-1 favourite to get the job in WD18 - although that looks a short price given he wouldn`t tolerate being a 'yes man` in the Premier League so he`s hardly likely to want to be a 'yes man` in the Championship.

Former Hornet and current Millwall boss Kenny Jacket is the other front runner at a widely available 4-1 alongside out of work John Ward (sacked from Carlisle just minutes before Boothroyd got the shove).

Give the Doc a break Chris. He's sometimes wide of the mark but at least he has a point of view and is able to express himself. That is what this site is about, I think. I can't see us attracting Curbishley given our current financial situation although Hessenthaler could be a runner. Malky?, maybe he'll get 3 points at Swansea on Sunday and then who knows what madness might follow. Come On You Golden Boys!

So Chriswfc who should be the new gaffer? We are gonna be priced out of the market for all relatively experienced names and Simpson has admiited himself that the board are tempted to gamble on a complete unknown again...Malky has done nothing of note on the coaching side since hanging up his boots...

Very interesting re-appointment of Burkinshaw; he was in the Directors Box at the game last Saturday which seems to suggest that Simpson was just waiting for Aidy to show a sign of weakness and then help him out of the door!
