'If It's Football, It's Vital'
Aidy 'pinching the inch' at Watford
Watford chief Aidy Boothroyd reckons that "football is a game of inches" but insisted "margins for error are finer than ever" after 2 defeats in a week for his Hornets.
In his weekly email to the Vicarage Road faithful, Boothroyd proved that size did matter as he suggested "At the moment I believe we`re inches away from being a good side in this division, and in the last 2 games we`ve been inches away on the wrong side of the line".
Indeed we have.
At VitalWatford Towers we`ve still not quite come to terms with 2 unbelievable goal-line clearances from Wolves full back Kevin Foley nor can we fathom out how the Hornets failed to score following some goalmouth scrambles up at Deepdale.
But the Hornets chief went further back to mixed fortunes against Saints and Cardiff to ram home his point, stressing "…one penalty save puts you an inch over the line, one penalty miss puts you an inch under it…".
So no wonder then that the Hornets chief reckoned his sizist attitude was backed up by the league table.
He added "To say that Wolves are sat top of the league this morning tells me all I need to know about those inches. I don`t think anyone who saw the weekend`s game with them could tell me that they were 18 places better off than us in the league".
No Aidy, they weren't but the big difference was clearly the arms and especially elbows of 9ft 6 beanpole Chris (Who)walumo, so if you`re gonna talk about size then let`s get things into proportion shall we.
