'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Watford's JJ is talk of the Toon

The Sun are back to their meddling best this morning linking Watford midfielder John Joe O`Toole with a £1m move to St James Park in the January transfer window.

Apparently the Irish connection (ie caretaker boss Joe Kinnear, who won`t even be there in the new year) could be enough to the encourage the youngster to leave the comforts of Vicarage Road and spread his wings to become a fully fledged Magpie.

O`Toole has shot to popularity with the Watford faithful thanks to 7 goals in 12 games this season from midfield BUT there are plenty of Hornets fans who reckon his goals don`t go far enough to hide holes elsewhere in his game.

Let`s be realistic though, £1m would certainly ring a few bells with the cash strapped Watford board - especially for a potential rough diamond who cost the club nothing.

£1 Million? Even the current board who appear desparate for cash must see JJ's worth much. much more. He's come on leaps & bounds this season and is a premiership star in the making. But even if he goes, would Newcastle be the likely option? With the club up for sale, a foul-mouthed interim manager and the scumbag Joey Barton as a role model? I don't think so. Come On You Golden Boys!

Something tells me that JJ has a loyal streak in him and the fact that we offered him a pro contract last year might make him think twice before doing a 'Forrester'!!!! The board may well be blinkered by the cash but they'd be well advised to hold on to JJ for a couple more years then flog him for 3m+ (ps - he's not gonna be a high earner on the wage bill either).

Absolutely right Doc, but stranger things have happened here over the years. Is there anything happening behind the scenes on the finances or takeover, because the January Sales are only 2 months away.....
