'If It's Football, It's Vital'

PNE boss slams 'unsporting' Watford

Just 6 days ago, Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd bleated to the media that "Alan [Irvine] won`t have said anything because he`s a terrific professional and a great guy" as the Hornets 'management of the game' came under question during the 2-1 win over Preston at Vicarage Road.

Now it appears the Watford gaffer may have made a right ol multi-balls up in his assessment of the PNE boss, after Alan Irvine went straight to the Lancashire Post slating the Hornets matchday staff as "an absolute disgrace".

Irvine, who refused a post match drink with the Hornets coaching staff after the 2-1 Watford win such was his fury, stated "They [also] deliberately threw a ball on because they knew it was trying the patience of the referee. That was a deliberate ploy".

And before taking a swipe at the 9 and 10 year old Watford ballboys, Irvine added "That was a deliberate ploy. They knew if an extra ball came on to the pitch on enough occasions then the referee would scrap it".

Irvine is now set to report Watford to the Football League on the grounds of 'unsporting behaviour`…

Truth of the matter though is that Preston could have played for another 120 minutes and still wouldn`t have found an equalizer such was their average performance!

Still, so much for "totally professional" huh Aidy?
