Something that might well have slipped through everyone's notice as Watford defended [poorly] for their lives yesterday was the commotion revolving around the multi-ball system.
With ten minutes remaining, the fourth official took all the spare balls from the Hornet's ballboys after a complaint by the PNE Coaching staff.
'We`ve got a situation today where probably Alan wouldn`t have said anything because he`s a terrific professional and a great guy but there`s an issue on multi-ball," said Boothroyd. "I`m going to look into that because there`s a right way to win and I want to make sure if it has occurred and there has been a problem with multi-ball then I`ll sort that out.'
"Sometimes there can be situations when you go away from home where you know that the ball`s not going to come back as quick as it should and the multi-ball can be abused and if that`s happened here through good intentions, wanting to win, then I`ll make sure that`s dealt with and we`ll cancel it."
With his usual Boothroyd-self-styled comedic skills, Aidy Boothroyd confirmed the game would NOT be replayed before any suggestions came out.
"I`m not saying we`ll replay the game again because we need the points as much as we can but I do think there`s a sporting way to behave and if that has happened then I`m going to look into it very seriously."
As one of the fairest teams in the league, often too nice, I think it's only fair we cheat now and again...else we'll bring up the phantom goal...groan...
