Swans fans bemoan 'Ugly duckling' tie

Swans fans bemoan 'Ugly duckling' tie

South Wales online has revealed that "thousands of Swansea City fans were left disappointed when the reward for beating arch-rivals Cardiff was a 4th round draw with Watford"…

Well get you, you bunch of Spanish loving glory hunters.

Ok, here at VitalWatford we fully appreciate that a "money-spinning plum pay-day tie with a Premier League giant" such as Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal Youth, Blackburn , Stoke or, er, Spurs (!?!) would have had the club`s accountants licking their lips with anticipation.

That`s why we are quite pleased that some sense of common sense has been applied to it all by Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins (with a name like that could he be any more Welsh?).

The level headed Swans chief told the South Wales Echo "Some will look at it and think we didn`t get a glamour tie, but a home draw against a side in our own division has presented an opportunity that shouldn`t be underestimated".

That`s more like it boyo.

And Welsh wonder Jenkins added "A big game can bring profile in the short term…but at this stage of our development the advatanges of getting through to the final stages far, far outweigh those playing Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal would bring"…

'…it`s not a bad thing to have avoided a big-name team in the next round as sometimes that can affect focus".

Ah, there really is common sense in those there Welsh hills…

Anything has to be better than Arsenal Under 13's away and we could yet go a long way in this competition, relief from the pressres of the league, etc etc.... A good cup run would be a welcome relief for the fans and will also generate a few bob for the cash strapped board, it might even attract the attention of would be investors. My advice is keep quiet before the game and let your team do the talking on the pitch Aidy!
