Aidy : We should be beating Blades
Just the other week Watford midfielder Lee Williamson reckoned "we should be beating sides like Sheffield Wednesday" after a comprehensive 2-0 loss at Hillsborough…
Now it appears another Steel city side have been in the Hornets firing line despite taking all 3 points off Watford with Aidy Boothroyd insisting "a team like [Sheffield United] we should be beating despite our injury problems and everything else".
Really Aidy? You really believe that?
The Hornets chief saw his side succumb to a 2-1 defeat at Bramall Lane after being out-muscled in certain areas of the park AND failing to deal with the basic "meat and drink" in a style of play they know all to well about.
A downbeat Boothroyd stated "We let ourselves down today and if you can't handle a battering then you will get what you deserve in Sheffield."
"They are a very direct team and they are going to throw it in there but we have big boys and you`ve got to throw your face in and get hurt…"
He further bemoaned the fact that his troops didn`t deal with a predictable Blades gameplan, blasting "…we give away a stupid goal from a poxy long throw that we`ve worked well on all week knowing that`s what`s going to happen".
'We tactically changed it around and got back into the game and then threw it away again because we don`t defend a cross properly - that`s our meat and drink…"
Indeed it is Aidy and today we really should have dumped the appetizer of 'powder puff` sherbet passing and mixed it up a bit with a side well equipped for the hustle and bustle.

Not sure Aidy should be coming out with this stuff, it doesn't come across well in my view, smacks of sour grapes and is only what we were doing last season. Just because we are now playing a more measured passing game doesn't mean we should automatically win against side playing direct football. Anyway, putting style to one side, Sheff Utd are a strong side with some quality players and will be involved in the playoff race for sure, whilst we have a relegation fight on our hands. We really Need something from Burnley tomorrow evening. Come on You Golden Boys!

Went to match.Wasn't a lot between sides if I'm honest.Both were playing 'hump it',although as on most occasions teams come and sit behind the ball.Good honest report that Dr Watford,although I do agree that we have been a bit predictable at times.Set plays is our main goal source at the minute,but I hate it when he (and others) comes out and says 'we should be beating teams like sheff utd'.Keep it to yourself,aidy

In some ways, Aidy Boothroyd is correct: Sheffield United were relegated with Watford so they are a good yardstick to measure your progress against.
