Watford boss charged over ghost goal
To quote Chris Kamara - "Unbelieveable"!
Watford have confirmed that Hornets gaffer Aidy Boothroyd has been charged by the FA with throwing 'insulting words` at blundering babyfaced ref Stuart Attwell during the 2-1 draw with Reading.
And his harsh (and quite frankly ludicrous) second half dismissal from the touchline will stand…
Boothroyd had admitted that he "called someone a name" following the 'phantom goal` debacle as the incompetent Atwell lost all control of proceedings but the FA are still insistent in protecting their 'fast track official` - despite the fact he is now a laughing stock worldwide.
The Hornets official site also confirms that "Boothroyd has until 10 October to respond to the charge" but also reiterated the club has "seen no punishment dished out to the official" (although being 4th official at Boro-Blackburn this Saturday could well be considered punishment enough).
Public faces such as Ian Wright has asked for the ref to be "caned for his decision" whilst Graham Poll has stated "the players have a right to be angry".
But still the FA persist on this ridiculous campaign to get respect for referees…
Someone should tell the Soho square misfits that respect is there to be earnt.
