Gibbs 'hoping' Reading win at Watford

Gibbs 'hoping' Reading win at Watford

Watford legend and 'longest serving player in Hornets history` Sir Nigel Gibbs has insisted he 'hopes Reading come out on top" when they face Aidy Boothroyd`s men this weekend.

'One club` Gibbs - who wracked up nearly 500 appearances for Watford in a 23 year career at Vicarage Road - was unceremoniously dumped from Boothroyd`s backroom room staff in a move that left a nasty taste in the mouths of many Glory Hornet fans back in 2005.

So much for rewarding loyalty.

Now, with his Pro License coaching badge under his belt, Gibbs will be part of the Royals matchday bench, plotting the downfall of his former club, in his role of 1st team coach under Steve Coppell.

Speaking to the mighty clever and extremely entertaining www.watfordlegends.com website, Gibbs stated "[I`m] looking forward to the 2 games against Watford and hopefully [Reading] can come out on top".

Gibbs added "Obviously my loyalties are with Reading now and it`s important we win those games".

But fear not Watford fans, Sir Nigel is still in love with the Hornets faithful and confirmed "Still now I have a great relationship with [the fans]. It was a big disappointment that I wasn`t able to say goodbye when I eventually left the club…They were fantastic to me".

`Fantastic` enough to encourage you to persuade that kind Mr Coppell to drop Hunt, Doyle and co from a matchday squad for just a day or 2 perhaps?

Well it was worth a try....
