Hornets trio set for loan departure?

Hornets trio set for loan departure?

Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd might insist that "it`s nice to stop fielding endless questions about who might be going and who might be staying" but that hasn`t stopped The Sun cranking up the speculation stakes…

The self dubbed 'People`s Favourite` paper probably won`t be too popular in WD18 this morning after hinting that the Hornets are so so desperate to offload a further 3 of their key players (on-loan) to ease the cash crisis.

The sports desk reckon that Coventry City are keen on a loan deal for veteran stopper Mart Poom - despite only just bagging cracking young keeper Kieran Westwood from Carlisle United.

Ipswich are reportedly about to put local rivalries aside and take ex Norwich midfielder Damien Francis off our hands for 12 months (though Hull City are also keen on the ol` Canary/Womble as well)

Somewhat surprisingly though, The Sun also reckon that Watford wing wizard Jobi McAnuff could be set for a loan deal with former club Crystal Palace, just 15 months after making the £1.75m switch from Selhurst Park.

So, the Watford chief might believe that the lack of ins and outs during the "surreal midnight hour of the transfer window" was proof that "rumours were exactly that", it appears that those 'rumours` just won`t disappear.

If the speculation surrounding re/ Jobi McAnuff is true what price on Adam Johnson joining on loan as a replacement - how would this go down with the ol' Hornets faithful?
10/09/2008 09:39:00
If this is true, would the last one out please turn off the lights, and as for you Simpson, hide and hide bloody well, remember when the directors box was stormed to get Petchy, well lightening can strike twice!

Francis can go on loan - we have plenty of cover in the centre of the park and maybe 3 keepers in a luxury (why no Lee on loan?) - I get the feeling AB has targets but can't make moves until some go....would it benefit it us longer term to clear some out?
10/09/2008 11:38:00
I understand what your saying, but poom is a decent goalie and after the mistakes made my lee, i just do not rate him! Mcnuff is first team and francis will come good, dont forget he had been out for a long period, needs time to regain fitness, the only reason they are getting players out is they can not afford to pay them, i can not see Johnson coming to wfc, he has already said he does not see the point in dropping in to the championship and even if he did, could we afford to pay him? all this speculation is not doing the club any good, the fans or my blood pressure, i would just like to hear what Simpson has to say, instead of lording it over us in the rouse stand. no mention in the programmes, no nothing, he is a complete idiot, now where are my heart pills?
10/09/2008 14:18:00
and if you count the goalie that we signed from hungry last season, we have 4 goalies
10/09/2008 14:20:00
Just seen that aidy has denied these stories!
10/09/2008 14:22:00
And McAnuff has also been quick to state he's heard nothing of the sort...I love AB's comment about "there being nothing else for the tabloids to write about"....Quality
10/09/2008 14:36:00
All very unsettling and designed to have a negative and destabilising affect on the club. There is no chance that Johnson will come back here, we just don't have the money to fund the loan (won't be free) and his wages. So we should stop this nonsense about is Johnson better than McAnuff and support Jobi - who played very well vs Ipswich. Come on You Golden Boys!
10/09/2008 18:15:00
Well said above!
11/09/2008 15:32:00
With so many keepers I think a keeper out on loan is a good shout to free up some cash to sign a loan player. Just prefer Lee to go out rather than Poom!! and def not Loach, who should be pushing for a first team spot shortly.
