King of the month
The Evening Standard have named Hornets hitman Marlon King as Player of the Month for February.
The South Londoner, who tops the Championship's leading goalscorer table with eighteen goals, was chosen after scoring four goals in five matches during February. The Jamaican international follows in the footsteps of England players Frank Lampard and Darren Bent in winning the award. Impressively, The King of Vicarage Road is the first player playing outside of the Premier League to scoop the accolade this term.
King, whose contract at Watford runs until 2008, told the Evening Standard's Gemma Clarke in today's edition: “The manager and fans have been brilliant to me. “That, and the support of my family, has given me real belief after all the disappointments in my career.'
The former Forest forward who is a bargain buy at £500,000, added “I want to be part of something that's great and I believe that that something is happening here.'
And thanks to King it certainly is.
