'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Eustace: 'No mention of P-word'

After last season's climb to the summit followed by spectacular fall, John Eustace has admitted that he and his team-mates are talking about promotion.

'We don't talk about the Premier League at all now.

'We are taking it game by game and we will see where we are after 46 games.

'We are in the Championship at the moment and we have got a long time to go. We have started OK but it's going to be a long journey.'

The former Stoke captain went as far to admit that his new employers spoke too much about the possibility of promotion, something which de-railed their promotion bid.

'We talked about it last season and it never worked for us.

'Possibly it affected us. It is a conscious decision not to talk about it. You don't look at the past, you have got the look at the future.'

And talking of the future, here's to another pr...wait for it....pretty display come Plymouth Argyle!

The team are doing very well at the moment, considering the lack of experience and lack of firepower, I'm more optimistic than I was a month ago and I believe a top-half finish is possible. A run for the play-offs would be great however. Come on You Golden Boys!
RFB-gloryhornetboys
Totally agree with that.
wfc123
Well RFB you can't denie that if we continue to play like we did yesterday - AFTER 30 MINUTES! Then a play-off challange is more than possible :D YELLOW ARMY! !

We are a small club and have punched above our weight for a while, now that we can see this, we as a club, fans etc, can be stronger and look as if we are there to make th eother clubs work bloody hard to beat us, if we show that, the fans will be behind aidy and the boys all the way. Remember how we were all feeling at the start of the season, the year we got promtion through the playoff's?
ANDY710
Promotion or no Promotion, top 6 or bottom 6, I will be happy as long as everyone gives 100% in every game, players, coaches and fans! As long as that happens we should be top 6! :-)
wazza79
Well that's 20% more per game than Aidy is happy with Wazza!!! The gaffer wants a good 80% all season long and if he gets that he'll be as pleased as punch. Smithy was quiet yesterday - Window shuts in under 10 hours!

Yes he was, didn't get much, if ay service I felt. No departures yet!
wfc123
Yes Tommy was quiet yesterday, but he was very closely watched throughout the game which gave space for others to use ie O'toole & McAnuff. He is absolutely critical to us having a successful season.

To see Watford back in the prem would be both good and bad... The good is to see the team pit there wits against the best teams in the land, maybe the world... The bad side is the fact that without the sort of money which other clubs can muster up we don't have much chance in competing with the teams in the top flight... Sometimes I think I would prefer to be at the top of the Championship than at the foot of the prem... That's sad but true...

Maybe I am alone but I go to Watford to watch us WIN - plain and simple...entertainment is nice but 3 points make the weekend (or the Tuesday night)....
