'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Watford were on the rack - Magilton

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton bemoaned his side`s 'sloppiness in possession` and questioned their strength of belief in the 2-1 defeat but still found time to praise the Watford fightback.

Sure, there was plenty of usual managerial guff coming out of the Ipswich camp with the Tractor Boys gaffer insisting "Watford should have been dead and buried in the first half" and "I can`t believe we`ve lost the game".

Magilton was even quoted as saying "We had them on the rack and they looked nervous"…

But the truth is Aidy Boothroyd`s boys were indeed in the mood for a 'good racking` during a solid 2nd half showing - the Hornets 'wracked` up more efforts on goal, more shots on target and even a greater share of possession despite Ipswich`s attempts at Total Football….

A fact not lost on his opposite number as Magilton admitted "You`ve got to give credit to Watford - we gave them the incentive, they put us under pressure and they didn`t disappoint'.

And as Aidy Boothroyd bleated on to all and sundry about the beauty of team spirit, the Ipswich gaffer added "Watford showed a lot of character".
