Smith spearheads Team of the Week

Smith spearheads Team of the Week

In-form Watford hitman Tommy 'Smudger` Smith notched up a brace of strikes in defeat at the City Ground to walk into the Championship Team of the Week.

Smith, who has now scored 4 goals in his last 4 league games, told the official Watford club site "It`s good to get off to a good start, so that`s three in three now and I`m delighted with that"

However with the Hornets falling to defeat to Forest, Watford`s prized asset added "I`d rather the three points though and unfortunately we didn`t get them".

Smith partners supposed one-time Watford target Ross McCormack of Cardiff City in attack for the Team of the Week, decided by the Press Association.

The full Championship Team of the Week for weekend 23-24th August is:

Basso (Bristol City); Rangel (Swansea); Stearman (Wolves); Fontaine (Bristol City); Surman (Saints); Halford (Sheff Utd); Holland (Charlton); Chaplow (PNE); McIndoe (Bristol City); Smith (Watford); McCormack (Cardiff).

He's Watford through & Through and is just getting better and better. Why can't they give him an improved new contract and show they will reward good performance. Come on I know times are hard but Tommy is just irreplaceable at the moment and we'll be on the road to ruin if we let him go. Come on Simmo, the club will be easier to sell with a Tommy in the side!

Think they maybe trying to sell him rather than give a new contract! i wonder how the fans would react then?
