Watford's Aidy defies sack race odds

2 weeks are indeed a long time in footballing circles!

Just ask Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd who has gone from being firm favourite to be first in the Championship sack race to now being placed as a rank outsider for the managerial guillotine….in just over 2 weeks.

That`s right folks. The quite fantastic Oddschecker site stats have revealed that the Hornets gaffer was joint favourite (with Charlton`s Alan Pardew) at 5-1 to be first for the chop this season just days before the start of the season

(and after witnessing that quite awful pre-season performance at Barnet, even with the odds stacked heavily against the Hornets boss, it was well worth a flutter).

Now - just 3 games and 3 clean sheets in - Boothroyd has seen his odds drift out to the 25-1 mark with online bookies, who now fancy Southampton`s Dutch master Jan Poorvliet to be quick off the block to receive his P45 first….

…with the Not So Super Hoops` Ian Dowie running in a close second.

I think Aidy will admit himself he made a mess of things last season, would not listen to Burkinshaw or anybody else! but with the finacial restraints immposed i reckon he could shine, time will tell

He's safe irrespective of results, for as long as the current board remains as they don't have the money to sack him! But Andy could be right remember the first season when he achieved promotion on a shoestring, Come on Aidy!

Aidy has been the most successful manager we have had behind the legend GT of course... What good would sacking him now do... Why have the most successful managers in the prem and champoinship been at there clubs for a long while??? Do they know something we don't??? Change for the sake of it is not advisably
