Darlo drawn with seeded Hornets

Watford will face League 2 outfit Darlington at Vicarage Road in the Round 2 of the Carling Cup after being pulled out alongside the Quakers in the draw.

The Hornets, who were seeded in the velvet bag, have only faced Darlo once before in a cup competition - that being a resounding 11-0 aggregate victory to the Hornets back in October 1984.

However Aidy Boothroyd`s latest crop of Golden Boys should not underestimate Dave Penney`s Darlo as the former Doncaster boss in charge at the Belfour Webnet Arena is insistent "he has a good record in the competition" and is keen on a good cup run "to boost the club`s finances".

In fact, the Quakers from League 2 pulled a bit of shock in the last round, upsetting League 1 rivals Walsall with a 2-1 away day win at the Bescott Stadium.

And with the firepower of former Wolves and Sheff Wed man Adam Proudlock, lower league goal machine Pawell Abbott and hot prospect striker Billy Clarke (on loan from Ipswich), Darlo do have the potential to be another banana skin

Just like Southend at the same stage last season then!

The tie is scheduled to be played wk commencing 25th August.
