Boothroyd: Palace will be 'nasty'

Boothroyd: Palace will be 'nasty'

Watford may have attempted to dump their bully boy heavy handed tactics in favour of some pretty passing football during pre-season but the proof is yet to be seen in the Championship pudding.

So it`s surely still a bit too early for Aidy Boothroyd to start bigging up the physical nature of his league rivals isn`t it?

Apparantly not it seems. The Hornets gaffer has stated that his young Watford team will face a 'nasty` Palace side on the opening day.

Talking before a ball has even been kicked, Boothroyd told the Watford Observer "We are now going there [Selhurst Park] with a young team and they have invested. They [Palace] have got a couple of senior players and Neil will get them organized and nasty, like he does".

But the Hornets have a decent record in South East London in Boothroyd`s era - a fact not lost on the Watford boss, who added "We have been there 3 times since I have been in charge, lost once and won twice. We bulldozed them last season and it could have been a few more".

Bulldoze we did Aidy and you can bet that Palace will be one of a few teams this season who might give the young Hornets a hard time as payback for the rough and tumble served up last term.
