Watford 'Day return' is cheap option

Former Hornet Chris Day is in line for a shock return to the Watford set-up after Aidy Boothroyd invited the ex QPR and Palace keeper into Vicarage Road for a trial.

Free agent Day was released by Div 1 strugglers Millwall in the summer but could now well be a contender to act as short term cover for the injured Mart Poom and Richard Lee…some 8 years after turning out 11 times for the Hornets in the Premiership!

Here at VitalWatford, we still remember his heroics at Anfield in that glorious 1-0 win.

At 32, Day is still relatively young in the goalkeepers union but he has struggled to hold down the 1st team jersey at a bunch of lower league clubs in recent years so his inclusion in a Watford X1 to face Tring Athletic does come as a bit of a surprise.

Still, another Day, another dollar saved and all that!

Sensible option as short-term cover, although Loach must be given his chance in first team, and if Day does well - it should be good Night for Poom!

You'll do alot worse than Daisy, gutted we (QPR) released him when we did, and I'm shocked that other clubs have followed suit, model person and model pro. Hope he signs up for you guys.

If he's not good enough for Millwall he's not good enough for us... Give Scott a chance Aidy.....

Loach has looked good in pre-season though I question if he has 46 leageu games in him yet. Poom's back and knees have gone and Lee is out for a while so I can understand the decision to look at Day but he's not a great keeper in my book.
