Watford trial for Stones flyer

Watford have taken 20 year old left winger Graeme Montgomery on trial from Ryman Premier League outfit Wealdstone.

The young winger, who has turned out 125 times for the non leaguers since joining in August 2005, caught the eye of gaffer Aidy Boothroyd during the Stone`s surprise 3-1 friendly win over the Hornets during pre-season.

Wealdstone boss Gordon Bartlett told the Hillingdon Times "Graeme has been invited over to Watford for a three day training stint and will take part in a game with them".

Bartlett added "Aidy Boothroyd was impressed with Monty when we played them at the Vale and this is a great opportunity for him to make an impression and is a real confidence booster for Graeme at this stage of the season".

Good luck to the lad.

Worth a try, remember we got Johnny Barnes from a similar source and then there was the one and only Barry Endean, whose goals fired us to promotion back in 1969 and was bought for 50 from a Working Mens Club up north. O-Bla- de-O-Bla-da, Barry Endean,.... Ah, those were the days my friend, we thought they never end!

Maybe it's a good thing. If he's any good he'll probable be very cheap or even free. Go for it...

Do we need anymore wingers though????

hmmm good question 1881 - Where ahs Ainsworth been for most of the pre-season and what on earth has happened to Alex Campana? Played well in the Carling Cup but has simply disappeared.
