'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hoskins U-turn

Forgotten forward, Will Hoskins, is set to stay put just a fortnight after being 'transfer listed'.

The young striker was farmed out on-loan twice last season after arriving during the Premiership season will Lee Williamson. Until now it's not hard to argue that Williamson, the makeweight in the deal has been the better buy, but that could be about to change:

"Will will be staying here," confirmed Boothroyd. "He`s training with us in Austria, training very hard and he`s doing well.

"I`m looking for the likes of Will, Theo Robinson and Lionel Ainsworth to step up this year and for the older players to take more responsibility as this will be a tough season."

Aidy continued by prasing Hoskins capabilities in the final third:

"He`s a very clever player and he`ll open up defences,"

"He`s bright, got a bit to prove and I like them to be hungry. If he can stay clear of injury and have a good pre-season he will come right into the reckoning.

"I see him as player who can play in the little pockets and in from wide or just off a front man.

"When a game is stretched, he can get on the ball and pick out passes. He creates problems for defenders because he doesn`t stand still."

Here's to hoping that the new style of play will suit Will and that he'll finally be able to flourish in the Yellow Shirt!

He is a player like Priskin who will only go well in a footballing side.

Not seen enough of him to comment.....Let's wait and see..

Strange that Aidy seems him as a wideman or a player off the front man - Hoskins was an out and out striker at Rotherham and played the role of the fox in the box well at Millmoor - Looked out of sorts on the wing.

Intelligent player, but has a glass back!
Our Kids Dad
Our kids dad, you are so right, had a chat with Hoskins before the end of season, he couldn't understand why he had to go and train with the juniors, completly frozen out of first team affairs! he has always had a dodgy back and the wrong movement can put it out, he was told to rest after coming back from forest, but if it goes again, he will need surgery!
ANDY710
Don't see him as a wide player (on the right I'd guess as he's right-footed) and we already have Tommy Smith, Ainsworth and McAnuff to play in that position. Yes, give him a chance up front with a big man alongside. Yes, Hendo would fit the bill perfectly......
RFB-gloryhornetboys
He looks bright and exciting and happy to run around off flick on's from a big man, him and Hendo would be ideal I believe. Out wide is a waste of his striking talents.
wfc123
What is it about Aidy playing strikers out of position - Kabba on the left wing, Hoskins on the right...No wonder Hendo is in talks with Sheff Utd - maybe AB has told him he's the 'footballing right back' he wants!!!!
