Cardiff fail to reunite King & Hendo

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones has confirmed that he`d love to reunite former Hornets strike duo Darius Henderson and Marlon King to spearhead the Bluebirds 2008-2009 campaign…but simply can`t afford them.

Jones confirmed the Bluebirds had submitted bids for both players but insisted "We made a bid for Henderson but the price went to high. We are also keen on Marlon King but we simply cannot afford the fee and his premiership-level wages".

Hendo is currently the subject of an accepted £2.5m bid from Sheffield United if you believe everything you hear on Sky Sports with Wolves and Birmingham also interested whilst £40k a week King is a target for Premiership new boys Hull and Derby County.

The thought that Watford really are looking to offload Hendo to a Championship rival scares the life out of us here at VitalWatford!!!

Henddo is the only good forward we have at the club.. Why sell him before we have sign someone else in... Aidy on ya bike.....

2.5m for hendo no way i rather see my mother in a blades shirt. wishfull thinking. ive herd the fee is 1.25m and he's signing on monday afternoon

There's also a lot of talk about Webber potentially coming back as part of the deal. 2.5m is realistic. PNE have had a £1.5m bid turned down by the club and Cardiff too got scared off after seeing a £1.6m rejected.

Fulham were prepared to pay 3 million last season, personally, i wouldn't object to him going, i know there may be gasps, sure he holds the ball up well, but he cost us points last season (penalty miss's) but if the money is right and a big if, we can use it to buy an attacking forward with pace, then ok, my only fear is that the money will not be reinvested in the playing side!

Henddo is the best forward at the club... Plus I think he is the best defender at corners too. He clears the ball when he needs to.. people only see the score chart and not the bigger picture....

It could be crucial to our 'style change' that Hendo leaves, plus 2.5 million is a big profit on somone who can never be labelled 'prolific'.

£2m and I'd bite the blades hands off for it....If Hendo goes that does that mean we may have a chance of keeping hold of Danny? Surely the board can't need £4.25m from transfers + an additional £1m in saved wages to dig us out of a hole?
