Striker isn't a Watford priority - Aidy

Watford fans will be amazed to hear that Aidy Boothroyd doesn`t seem to think that the Hornets need to strengthen the forward line ahead of the start of the season…and has other priorities elsewhere!

A whopping 45% of a VitalWatford fans poll voted for a new striker as a key signing after the departures of Ellington, King and Kabba but Boothroyd believes a new right back (3% of the vote) and a left sider (2%) are more important.

Crikey!

The Hornets boss told the Watford Observer "We need a left-sided player, to back up Jobi [McAnuff] and push Mat Sadler. We also need another right-back - That`s an area where you start most of your attacks and we need more competition there".

Boothroyd added "I would possibly like a central midfielder but that depends on what goes on elsewhere. We are just in need of a couple to give us strength and depth".

So it seems the Watford boss really will have an emphasis on youth and inexperience with Theo Robinson, Will Hoskins and Lewis Young as the only other frontmen in the squad to back up Darius Henderson and Tamas Priskin (please, no!).

When will Aidy follow the greencross code man... Stop, look and listern to the fans......WE NEED A STRIKER ASAP OR WE WILL GO DOWN.......
watford1881
Ofcourse we do... Cannot rely on youngsters with little experience!

Maybe I could get a game then...

We have our 'left sided player' then in Jon Harley, but what is the need for a RB when Mariappa, Bromby, DeMerit and Parkes can all play there? And when you're selling another in Doyley. Though I do appreciate that JD and LB will be our first choice centre halves next year.

I guess its all about waiting to see if we get any money coming in... Sadly if none doesn't we won't get anyone.

Does Aidy know what he's doing????? I think not...
