Shittu out of Olympic team

Shittu out of Olympic team

Goal.com is this evening reporting that Hornets Nigerian defender Danny Shittu will NOT be included, as an overage player, in their U23 football squad for the Beijing Olympics.

The Dream Team are allowed to include three players over the cut-off age of 23. Dan had been one of those likely to be included in the squad but hasn't made the cut, amazingly.

'I feel very disappointed that Shittu will not be part of the team to China because he is one defender I know too much about and who I believe would have played a major role in the team,'

'I included him in the team as one of the over-aged players because I know what he can do but he could not make it due to injury. It is very painful,'
Siasia added.

Good news for Hornets fans as Danny will now not miss the start of the season, should he still be at the 'Vic and if not - we can sell him!

Looks as if he will be going Rangers - according to reports. But he will have to pass a medical now! - Leicester fan

Well, yes. But he is fit as far as I know because the site reported he was on the recovery from injury just a couple of weeks after the play off defeat. Perhaps the Nigerians are not up to date?!?!?
