Shittu fate to be decided Sunday

Shittu fate to be decided Sunday

Oh we do love a misleading headline here at VitalWatford Towers

Whilst the 'will he won`t he` transfer saga continues, Danny Shittu will find out this Sunday (13 July) if he will miss the opening 4 games of the season, when Nigeria announce their Bejing Olympic squad.

The 'Dream Team` coach (and former Nantes striker) Samson Siasias has requested that the man mountain Watford defender be 1 of 3 over age players in the U23 squad heading for Group B action against Holland, Japan and the USA in the Olympic football tournament.

And this will mean that should Shittu still be a Hornet when the competition gets under way from August 6th, then he`ll miss games against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Bristol Rovers and, former side, Charlton Athletic!!!

Though given that the sports hacks at The Sportsman are reporting that Rangers have had a £1.5m bid accepted, then it more likely that ol` Danny boy will be unavailable for SPL clashes with Falkirk, Hearts and Aberdeen - as well as the important Champions League qualifier away at Lithuanian side FBK Kaunas.

Hopefully it'll be Rangers problem by then!

It would be good to have it all cleared up so the club and fans know where we stand on Danny. 1.5 mill sounds too little to pay for such a towering centre back like Danny.

We sold Paul Robinson to WBA to cheap, but that was because we were in need of the money!! looks like nothing has changed there then?
