Rivals move for Boothroyd's key players

Watford look set to miss out on another player highly rated by boss Aidy Boothroyd as Crystal Palace move ever closer to the signing of Colchester`s Mark Yeates.

The U`s dead ball expert and attacking midfielder was earmarked in the press at the start of last season as a 'player that can hurt you` by Boothroyd but it appears the Hornets won`t even be in the running for the former Tottenham winger's signature despite heavy praise indeed from the Watford boss.

The same can also be said of Blackpool`s Wes Hoolahan who despite being picked out as a 'key player' and danger man to Watford`s play off hopes last season, is linked with a move away from Bloomfield Road with Norwich, QPR and Charlton all vying for the deal.

It really does seem that money is too tight to mention at Vicarage Road as the Championship transfer roundabout kicks into full swing.

You seem to be deciding that just because Aidy tries a bit of pre-match psychology he's somehow also constructing a wish list at the same time? A player who suits Colchester may not suit our squad. Stop being so simplistic!

My concern is if we are not in the market for this type of player given their undoubted quality then I am majorly concerned. Yeates is a bit different to what we have and a Hoolahan was brilliant in both games against us....Start looking at quality Aidy and steer clear of the bargain bin.

Well Yeatesy is a great player, just hope Colchester don't lose to him.

At the moment I'd be happy with anyone comming in. It seams everyones going the other way.. We need new quality players NOW!! or we might go down. I hope we don't but I can see it happerning... (1881)

Yeates is a good player. Ipswich should sign him.
