Shittu out, Gorkss in at Watford?

Man mountain Dan Shittu looks set to be next through the door marked 'cash register` at Vicarage Road but fear not Watford fans, the Hornets are close to the ready made replacement signing of Latvian goal scoring centre back Kaspars Gorkss from Blackpool (according to the Daily Mail anyway)!

Rangers, Bolton, Fulham, Wigan, QPR and Hull City are all circling likes flies around Shittu but it`s the Scottish giants who head the race for the Nigerian powerhouse with the lure of Champions league football almost too much to bear. There`s even talk of a £3m transfer fee being thrashed out in various sources - which would make good business in truth!

Kasper Gorkss on the other hand is wanted by a bunch of Championship clubs (and Everton) and could cost the Hornets as little as £250k (all thanks to a lovely little buy out clause) should he decide on a switch south.

Watford boss Boothroyd was linked to Gorkss in January but there`s competition afoot though with Preston, QPR, Burnley, Ipswich, Norwich and a renewed Blackpool contract all desperate for the impressive Latvian`s signature.

Though it`s probably worth mentioning that Simon Grayson has already snapped up defender Marlon Broomes from Stoke which has fuelled rumours of Gorkss moving on…
