Shittu & bust - Danny out for 8 weeks

Danny Shittu - Watford`s man mountain centre back - has withdrawn from the Nigerian squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and could be out for up to 8 weeks, according to reports on EuroSport and MTN Africa this morning

The Super Eagles defensive rock missed last nights 1-1 stalemate friendly with EURO2008 hosts Austria in Graz with a suspected knee injury and medical staff have advised of a lengthy lay-off for the 27 year old.

Nigerian officials have confirmed that Shittu - who was named in the Team of the Tournament for the 2008 African Nations Cup - will not play any part in World Cup Group 4 qualifiers against Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone and the crunch clash against South Africa later this month.

Big man, big money signing and now biggin` it up in the treatment room it seems.
