Rams in talks with Watford's Duke

Derby County have upped their interest in signing striker Nathan Ellington from Watford, after the Rams chairman Adam Pearson confirmed that talks have started with player.

Talking to the Derby Evening Telegraph, Pearson said "Discussions are under way to bring Nathan Ellington to Derby County and hopefully we can bring them to a conclusion".

Whilst various tabloids have been quoting a fee of around 3m striker who only joined Watford 8 months ago (and signed a 4 year deal), the Derby Evening Telegraph reckon a fee of between 1.5m and 2m is more a realistic figure to secure the player.

Ellington is expected to be 1 of a handful of household names on high salaries to leave the Hornets as Aidy Boothroyd looks to recoup some cash on which to rebuild his squad.

I'd much rather see someone who is in the mould of Tommy Mooney at Watford instead. Ellington is rubbish. Get him out and start over again.
