Del Boothroyd to wheel n deal

The failure to win promotion is already biting with Adrian Boothroyd confirming he will 'wheel and deal` this summer and refresh his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Sources close to VitalWatford believe that the likes of goalkeeper Mart Poom, Will Hoskins, Damien Francis and Matt Jackson being moved on in an attempt to lighten the wage bill dragged down by players on long-term, expensive contracts.

Whilst Jordan Stewart was first out of the door last week (with Derby apparently ready to swoop) the future of centre back pairing Dan Shittu and Jay DeMerit could well be looked at if Premiership interest raises it's head.

Interest in man mountain Shittu is likely to be high with the former QPR man being named in the Championship Team of the Year and Fulham, Wigan and Scottish giants Celtic are already hovering!

Hornets gaffer Aidy Boothroyd has confirmed also that he won`t go mad in the market, employing the Harry Redknapp 'wheel and deal` approach. He said "I'll have to be a Del Boy and do a bit of wheeling and dealing".

The Watford hasn't got an overly impressive record in the transfer market but insisted "It may be a case of starting again for us. We need to take a good look at ourselves, but we'll be alright because we've got a core of good staff, a core of good players and good youngsters."

Boothroyd added "I've got to look at the squad, see what needs adjusting and maybe be a bit more ruthless. It could be time to build a new team"

All in all then, it's gonna be an interesting summer.

Well sounds like there is going to be a lot of people coming and going this summer. Giving youth a chance is the best way forward.

Will the young players be good enough? I hope so. True we do need a good clear out. If we don't inprove next season we may be involved at the bottom of the league. Let's cross our finger's
