Hull's 'Joy of 6' could be shortlived!

Hull's 'Joy of 6' could be shortlived!

Hull fans are well advised to revel now in their aggregate 6-1 'demolition` of Watford in the Championship Play-Offs because a side hitting 6 in the semi`s have never won promotion in the history of the 'do or die` competition.

The Tiger`s 6-1 thumping of the Hornets over 2 legs has set up a date with Gary Johnson`s Bristol City on Saturday but since 1988, no side with such a wide winning margin have then gone on to win at Wembley (or Cardiff for that matter).

Chelsea stuffed Blackburn by 6-1 in 1988 in exactly the same scenario (2-0 away win, 4-1 home win) but were well beaten by Middlesborough in the final (after Boro had struggled past Bradford).

17 years ago, Brighton Hove Albion stormed past Millwall 6-2 over 2 legs but succumbed 3-1 to an understrength Notts County side in the final at Wembley.

Even Leicester - the original Play-offs masters - cruised through to the 1992 final, beating Cambridge 6-1 but a Mike Newell penalty under the Twin Towers put Blackburn up and condemned the Foxes to another season of second tier soccer.

So 6-appeal really isn`t all that then!

Just FACT gents. The VitalWatford boys really don't know who to back for the final...Bristol City are packed with Watford connections (including the boss) but Hull were our victors...

Good luck to Hull City, as a WFC fan, i thought you deserved it overall! we have not been good all season and getting promotion may have done more harm than good, although finacialy, we just may not get another chance, If you gain promotion enjoy the good times, because they will be far and few between as we found out and as Derby have just,

Well, I guess its time to make history. I'm sure the lads are up to proving you wrong. Maybe next season you might have a better hope of joining us in the promised land than your dismal attempt of a promotion campaign this year.

I think Hull will beat Bristol. Hull forwards are much better then any other in the league (except West Brom"s) In the play-off"s you need strong powerful forwards. I think Hull are doing a "Watford" this year. If you look at there season it mirrors ours back in 2005/06. If you don't make it this year it will be very hard to do it next season. Good luck..

Seems to me that someone should be saying well done rather than looking for omens.
