Shittu no stranger to final day Blackpool drama

Shittu no stranger to final day Blackpool drama

Man mountain centre back Danny Shittu will know all about last day drama at Bloomfield Road after playing a major part on loan with a Blackpool side who snatched a play-off place on the final day of the 2000-2001 season.

The towering defender was snapped up from obscurity in Charlton`s reserves by Seasiders boss Steve McMahon and netted a priceless goal at Darlington in a 2-1 last game victory way back in May 2001.

Shittu, who will look to add to his 9 goals this season, notched up 19 appearances for Blackpool - including run outs in the 3rd Division Play-Off semi final victories over Hartlepool - but missed out on the celebrations of promotion at the Millenium Stadium as the Tangerines ran out 4-2 victors over Leyton Orient.

Only defenders Danny Coid and John Hills remain in the Blackpool squad from Shittu`s time so the Watford centre back shouldn`t be too struck with nostalgia!

Blackpool should be frightened of Danny. He is going to score tommorrow. He hasn't scored for a while. (1881 'till I die)
