Ram raid rejected but Jewell wants Duke

Watford have revealed that they were quick to turn away an official approach by Derby County to sign striker Nathan Ellington!

Whilst no figures were talked about, Aidy Boothroyd confirmed to the This is London network that a bid from the Rams was received in the January transfer window for the Hornets 3.25m record signing with Paul Jewell intent on bringing his former Wigan Athletic hitman to Pride Park!

But the powers that be at Vicarage Road were quick to reject the offer with chairman Graham Simpson telling the Bucks Free Press "It was a no-brainer as far as I was concerned. [Boothroyd] said he didn`t want Nathan to go and so therefore Nathan wasn`t going".

Boothroyd also added "I turned down the bid because I believe we can do it. If he is the one that gets the goal at Wembley for us then it will be good business".

Take the money & run for it. Duke is rubbish.

Precisely. Boothroyd is far too wrapped up in always being right to admit a mistake.
