Hendo: Swindon was the making of me

Glory Hornet fans favourite Darius Henderson has revealed that a spell on loan at Swindon Town has turned him into the player he is today!

The Watford striker - who has now netted 30 times in a yellow shirt - reckons a 1 month loan spell at the County Ground in September 2004 was just the thing he needed to get back on the goal hunt after a spell out injured!

In response to fans questions on the official club site Henderson stated "[The loan spell with Swindon] was the turning point of my career if I look back on it."

He then showed Watford`s 5th Best Striker Tamas Priskin (who turned down loan spells with Crewe and Southend) a thing or two about accepting life in the lower division by insisting "I had to drop down a league to go out on loan but it gave me the match fitness and the confidence to show that I could score goals again".

Hendo netted 5 times in 6 games for the Robins of Division 1 after finding himself in the wilderness at Gillingham and is now considered a bit of a legend within Swindon circles.

He was quality for us, he arrived from Gillingham as a player of no reputation and quickly hit the goal trail with Sam Parkin but we couldn't raise the funds for his signing, he went back to Gillingham scored more goals and then joined the Hornets. Good player.
Wellsy
DH is for me our player of the season. He is the one player we miss most when he is not playing. He bullys the other team & is a handful up front. HD should be captain of watford. I think this because he has been with us longer than Eustace. We know he is loyal to watford. He proved his loyalty by staying & fighting for his place with the team when he could have gone to Preston. To me I think he is #1. (1881 Forever)
